Charmain Zimmerman Brackett, an Augusta native, has written for The Augusta Chronicle for 28 years, currently serving as the ArtSide columnist and a features' correspondent. She's also written for the Columbia News-Times and Columbia County Magazine. She began writing novels in 2012 and her debut novel, The Key of Elyon, won the Augusta Literary Festival's 2014 Yerby Award for Fiction. Her first children's book, Little Pearl's Circus World, won the 2015 Georgia Author of the Year Award. It's based on the true story of her great-grandmother who started performing in her father's circus at the age of 4.
